Filling Out an Insurance Accident Report
Accidents are bad. No one wants to be involved in an accident, although some do use the accidents to make money, but that is considered fraud and it is hardly an accident, but rather a set up collision. Either way, that is a discussion for another article. In the event of an accidental collision, there may be a lot going through an individual's mind. How did this happen? What happened? Is everyone okay? Is the car okay? Will I be able to drive it home? Should I call the police? Where is my cell phone? What is not on the minds of most people is what they are going to say on the insurance accident report. When involved in an accident, there is a procedure that should be followed to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The first step is to apply the breaks to the vehicle, place it in park and turn it off. The second step is to verify that you okay. If you are not okay, you cannot help others and should remain in the vehicle. If you are okay, check the occupants of your vehicle; verify that they are all okay. They are closest to you and therefore should receive the first attention after yourself. If they are okay you may begin checking on the occupants in the other vehicle or vehicles if applicable. There are times when one may collide with a stationary object. This will all be important to note on the insurance accident report, but you are not thinking about this right now. Go to the passenger side of the other vehicle and verify that the individuals in that vehicle are safe. It is hoped that everyone who was an occupant of either vehicle was wearing a safety belt and wearing it appropriately. Using a cell phone, call the police so that they may fill out an accident report and determine the cause of the action as well as who was at fault for the accident. Other emergency officials will also be dispatched to assist the injured and eliminate the threat of a fire from the accident. Risk Assessment Report |
